Classic Everest Base Camp Trek

The Classic Everest trek which appears on most people's bucket list is a trek that will taking you to a touching distance of Everest and other 8000 mts giants. A week of walking through quaint Sherpa villages with yak and mule caravans as company will bring you to the foot of the mountain.

After a few days in Kathmandu we take  a short 35 minutes flight to Lukla the gateway to the Everest region. The flight itself ia a wonderful experience as you will be able to some of the giants including Everest.

From Lukla we will walk for a week to reach the Everest base camp at an altitude of 5325 mts. The trek is designed in such a way so as to aclimatize you on the way. There will be extra dyas at certain elevations to help you with the high altitude. All stay will be in be in Sherpa lodges and food served will be the local cusine.Yak and Mule carvans along with highland shepherds will add colour to your trek.

Day 1 | TREKKING | DAY 1

The flight from Kathmandu to Lukla is approx. 25 minutes. After we land in the Tenzing Hilary Airport, we will start our trek on the same day. We will trek to Phakding which takes approx. 4 hours and is mostly flat through the Cheplung Village and with a view of Mt. Khumbila, sacred mountain that has never been climbed

Day 2 | TREKKING | DAY 2

The trek from Phakding to Namche is mostly uphill and takes around 4 hrs. We will trek through a forest and to Benkar valley. We will only enter the Everest National Park today by crossing a suspension bridge and crossing river and also crossing various villages. We will reach Namche and it is the town of the Everest Region.

Day 3 | TREKKING | DAY 3

On this day, we will relax in the town of Everest, Namche. We will wake up to the view of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Amadablam and others. If you want, we can go on a day hike as well.

Day 4 | TREKKING | DAY 4

The trek from Namche to Tengboche is of approx 6 hrs. As Tengboche has lots of things to explore, even after we reach Tengboche, we will hike around to explore the place. We will visit the biggest monastery of the Everest region as well.

Day 5 | TREKKING | DAY 5

We leave Tengboche leaving behind inhabited foothills into the high step and wooded slopes of Himalayas. We cross the suspension bridge then trek through rhododendron trees which takes around 6 hours.

Day 6 | TREKKING | DAY 6

On this day, to acclimatize to the high altitude, we will hike around Dingboche and explore the area.

Day 7 | TREKKING | DAY 7

Today, we will hike to Lobuche. It is an easy trek and takes around 6 hrs. We will walk through the village with prayers flags hung around which is a magnificent view.

Day 8 | TREKKING | DAY 8

Get up in the early morning and savor the magnificent sunrise over the Himalayas. After taking breakfast, we start hiking uphill to Everest Base Camp. This is the major highlight of the trek. After a short view, we will hike down to Gorakshep.

Day 9 | TREKKING | DAY 9

From Gorakshep we make a steep ascent to the Kalapathar and then after spending a little time in the summit, we will hike back to Gorakshep. And after a nice lunch at Gorakshep, we will hike to Pheriche.

Trek from Namche to Pheriche we will go through the rhododendron tress, pine forest and also cross the Dudh Koshi River which takes around 6 hrs.

Today is our last trekking day. We will walk for approximately 6 hrs to Lukla. The trail is a easy flat trail.

On this day, on an early flight, we will return to Kathmandu. The flight is of approx. 25 minutes. You will then be transferred to your hotel. After you check in, you can spend your afternoon walking around and relaxing.

GEAR LIST | What to bring on this Trek?

Think only safety. Safety from the rain, the cold, the heat and the altitude. So simply put the bare essentials would be

  • RAIN - a rain jacket and if required during monsoon, rainproof pants
  • COLD - layers of clothings - thermals, tee shirt, fleece, windstoppers and down. Sleeping bag and liner for the night
  • HEAT - Sunscreen, hat, sunglasses
  • ALTITUDE - Water bottle, snacks and a great Attitude! The rest is all about building an itinerary thats going up slow!
